Peace River 04:49
Peace River Transit of Venus, love moves over fire Can’t see it with the naked eye Measuring the heavens is more easily done Than trying to repair you and I Driving to Peace River Driving day and night Dive into Peace River And swim to the other side Sometimes I would think of you Sometimes when I was weak Sometimes I would go for days Sometimes without sleep Words they had no meaning Words they had no sound Words would not convince you Words fell on the ground Driving to Peace River Driving day and night Dive into Peace River And swim to the other side Forces between us, fear fights with desire Can’t see it with the naked eye It pulled us together, then pushed us apart Like planets and stars in the sky

All My Life 03:48
All My Life All my life I only wanted one thing All my life - to be with people who sing Tell the truth when you play some chords Take a chance when you tell your story Tell the truth bout what you’re feelin You just never know All my life - I been writing things down All my life – I been listening to sounds Listen to the guitar strings – listen to the fiddle singing Listen to the harmony – I didn’t have a choice Some words just fit together Some people – born for each other Seein you and being me, like words and harmony Take a chance with what you’re feelin You just never know All our lives we been writing this song All our lives We were right all along Me with you and you with me Like words and harmony Take a chance with what you’re feelin You just never know Listen to the guitar strings, listen to the fiddle singing Listen to the harmony – I didn’t have a choice.

Dance With Me Darling It’s a story we tell, and tell it well A tale from an innocent age Some things we know, some we don’t We wait for the turn of the page Oh . . .oh . . . dance with me darlin Tell me there’s something to say Oh oh dance with me darlin Dancin our troubles away You can talk to me over the sound of the people I’ll hear your voice as you come down the stairs Talk to me tell me the things that you want to Talk to me tell me all of your cares Oh . . .oh . . . dance with me darlin Tell me there’s something to say Oh oh dance with me darlin Dancin our troubles away I’m standin in line, standin by Waitin for something to change Standin around, standin down Wait for the end of the day Oh . . .oh . . . dance with me darlin Tell me there’s something to say Oh oh dance with me darlin Dancin our troubles away Oh . . .oh . . . dance with me darlin Tell me there’s something to say Oh oh dance with me darlin Dancin our troubles away Dancin our troubles away Dancin our troubles away

Making Good Time I can't get the smell of diesel off my skin When I'm gone I keep wondering Where you been? The radio says just "keep moving on" When all I wanna do Is come back home All I hear is the sound of changing gears Up and down these hills and valleys Through the years The radio sings "just run away" I wonder if I'll ever see your face again I just keep moving On down the line No destination But I'm making good time I just keep moving On down the line No destination But I'm making good time I can see the road ahead and where I've been The only moment not too clear Is the one I'm living in The radio says just "let it be" I need a little time Before I will be free I just keep moving On down the line No destination But I'm making good time I just keep moving On down the line No destination But I'm making good time I can't get the smell of diesel off my skin I can see the road ahead And where I've been

The Places In Between Little white clouds on a big blue sky A road headed west in the morning light The past is gone and future's ahead A sliver of time is all we get There's a town on the way where everyone goes Saying the things that everyone knows Well I think that we'll take a little turn instead And go to a place where we can clear out heads Whoa . . . come for the ride Set yourself free If we try We can find The places in between Towns of trouble Towns of strife Towns of worry Towns of lies Towns of anger And jealous fear Towns of hatred Towns of greed Whoa . . . come for the ride Set yourself free If we try We can find The places in between Little white clouds on a big blue sky A road headed west in the morning light The past is gone and future's ahead A sliver of time is all we get Whoa . . . come for the ride Set yourself free If we try We can find The places in between Whoa . . . come for the ride Set yourself free If we try We can find The places in between A sliver of time is all we get A siiver of time

Taking My Time Running out of breath and running out of road Running out of time got nothing to show For the work I’ve been doing down here The sweat and occasional tears The world takes another trip around the sun Everybody's tryin to find someone To help em get over their fears Stay with em over the years I get on the road and I ride away I get on the road and I find my way Taking my time today Taking my time away Taking my time today You ask me for answers I don’t know You ask me to stay and I wanna go To some place that isn’t here’ To some place away from here I get on the road and I ride away I get on the road and I find my way Taking my time today Taking my time away Taking my time today Running out of breath and running out of road Running out of time got nothing to show For the work I’ve been doing down here The sweat and occasional tears The world takes another trip around the sun Everybody's tryin to find someone To help em get over their fears Stay with em over the years I get on the road and I ride away I get on the road and I find my way Taking my time today Taking my time away Taking my time today

about

Click on the name of each track for player credits and song info.

This album is dedicated to my sons Mark, Jon, Alex and Les and all the folks (their friends and mine) who hung out with us at 5596 . . . laughing, playing music, annoying the neighbors, learning from each other, building things, fixing cars and just wondering together what the hell might come next . . . . I also dedicate it to the memory of my dear friend Ron Grace, without whom I probably never would have been in a band.

The Nose Creek Band (tracks 1, 4, 5, 8 and 11) is John McIntyre (guitar, vocals), Rick Everett (guitar, vocals, drums), Jim French (bass, vocals) and Bob Matthews (drums, vocals) and me playing whatever is left. NCB songs were collectively produced by the band and engineered by Jeff Surtees, John McIntyre, Rick Everett and Jim French in various happy control freak combinations.

John McIntyre plays Fender, Epiphone, Gibson and Rickenbacker guitars through McIntyre amplifiers. Jeff Surtees plays Fender, Ibanez, Rayco, Collings, Larrivee and Supro instruments. Amplifiers were Ampeg, Trace Elliot and miscellaneous better things borrowed from John.

All songs were recorded at 5596 Studios, Calgary, Alberta except All My Life - vocals by Kelly Read, BC Read, Jessica Robinson and Kevin Barrett recorded at Audio Art Recording in Saskatoon, engineered by Glenn Ens (www.audioartrecording.com). Michael Smith's vocals were recorded somewhere in the wilderness of Barrie, Ontario
